Persistence Pays

December 19, 2014

Persistence is key in direct selling at WorldVentures. Remember to have a goal, understand your audience, and most importantly, believe in yourself.

According to Benjamin Franklin, “energy and persistence conquer all things.” And as many WorldVentures Reps know, persistence is a quality you must possess in excess. After all, a “no” or “maybe” can transition to an all-important “yes” if you stick with it.

That said, direct sales is not for the faint of heart. You have to know how to take it on the chin and get back in the ring. Overcoming objections is fundamental, but it takes time to develop this skill. Selling does not come naturally to most people, but anyone can learn to do it effectively.

Have a goal. Never proceed without a purpose; it informs everything you do. To help you set a goal, decide what success looks like and map out a path to get there. Establish short-term goals that support your long-term objectives. You’ll find it easier to stay on course and avert roadblocks with a clear destination in view.

Understand your audience. Once you identify your targets, take time to learn what could prevent your potential customer from making a decision in your favor. Once you know this, you can adapt your approach to address that specific objection.

Believe in yourself. Facing the possibility of rejection takes a healthy dose of optimism and self-confidence. Successful people understand that that the only way to get to what they want is to try … and to keep on trying. They know that eventually they will succeed, because they believe in themselves.

Let’s be real, persistence is pressure and hard work is – well – hard. To be a master in the art of anything, you have to hang in there and make things happen. That means doing things others may be unwilling to do. Then, kick back and watch the rewards roll in.
