Thank You Internet Memes for this Sage Travel Advice

October 2, 2013

Take a gander at these amusing--and dare we say telling--travel-related memes. And while these may not inspire wanderlust, they may inspire a smile or two.

Memes, they’re cute, clever and sometimes downright absurd. Not sure what a “meme” is? Well, it rhymes with “team” and you’ve probably seen them all over your Facebook and Pinterest pages.

Originally coined by Richard Dawkins in 1976, a meme was defined as “an idea or element of social behavior passed on through generations in a culture, especially by imitation.” Bring on the Internet, and today’s definition pretty much means a condescending Willy Wonka, a philosophizing dinosaur or an insult-flinging feline (oh, Grumpy Cat, how you make us laugh).

The only time it’s all about you, is when you do something embarrassing. Don’t worry, everyone can relate. Socially Awkward Penguin just happens to live more than most:

When every moment is a slam dunk, you’re either dreaming, or you’re Success Kid (or you’re dreaming about Success Kid). Future CEOs and world leaders take note.

You and Willy Wonka wish it was pure imagination. Good thing the seats are so close together.

Boundaries? Never heard of them. Besides, you look like you can help Confession Bear through this difficult time.

Once upon a time you did something wrong. Remember? Karma does. That’s why you’ve earned a seat next to Foul Bachelor Frog.

No. 1 reason Philosoraptor is obsessed with “Talk Like a Pirate Day”? His arguments incline toward the swashbuckling.

The place “Where all your dreams can come true,” didn’t take into account the dreams of Grumpy Cat.

Destinations come to him. He is “The Most Interesting Man in the World.”

Remember kids, memes are for sharing. Think we left any out? We’d love to see them! Share your favorites below or create your own here http://memegenerator.net/  (that’s where we created all these memes!).
