1st Dream Court Opens in Brockton, Massachusetts

Plano, Texas — July 25, 2017 — WorldVentures Foundation™ and Nancy Lieberman Charities teamed with the Brockton Police Department and Beacon Communities to dedicate a Dream Court at Chatham West Apartments in Brockton to foster the relationship between officers and the communities they serve. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 25 drew a contingent of local leaders and marked the 38th Dream Court to open nationwide. Built in underserved communities, Dream Courts™ are state-of-the-art play spaces where children can shoot hoops and develop life skills including teamwork.

"I truly believe that this sports program will make a difference in the lives of young people, and that together we can find a way to bring more peace to our country,” said Nancy Lieberman, Nancy Lieberman Charities founder and a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer who made history in 2015 when she was hired by the Sacramento Kings, becoming only the second female assistant coach in NBA history.

Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter, Brockton Police Chief John Crowley, Beacon Communities Chairman of the Board Howard Cohen and Boys & Girls Club of Brockton CEO Derek Heim were among the dignitaries present. Dream Court donor Betsy Boggia, northeast regional marketing director at Fairway Independent Mortgage, also attended.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, children participated in an open-court “shootaround” with Brockton Police. Beacon Communities sponsored the food catered for the attendees from Texas Barbq.
